JENNY GRAHAM
You don't mind the corvette, do you?

TONY BRIGGS
She'd roll on wet grass, the corvette. I've gotten to be quite fond of that old minesweeper, in a funny little way, you know.

JENNY
Mmm, I know.

TONY
Just a few months, and I might be back...maybe longer.

JENNY
Well, just so long as it's not far away from here.

TONY
(laughing)
Not half. Guess what.

JENNY
What?

(He kisses her.)

TONY
Just that.

(They kiss again.)

TONY
I love you.

(Jenny smiles at him but thinks better of saying anything in response.)

TONY
Perhaps we could go away somewhere for the weekend. Scarborough's not too far. Shall I book a room?

JENNY
"Mr. and Mrs. Smith"?

(Tony laughs, and they kiss again.)

TONY
"Mr. and Mrs. Tony Briggs"...hmm?

JENNY
(smiling)
Mmm. That's much better...real flesh and blood people.

(She sighs.)

JENNY
(smiling)
"Mr. and Mrs. Tony Briggs."

(She becomes quite serious, but only for an instant.)

JENNY
(smiling again)
Tony?

TONY
Hmm?

JENNY
Just for this weekend...

TONY
(nodding his head)
Hmm.
